There are various internal and external training and workshops available for employees and managers.
WellBeing and WorkLife eLearning Modules
Enroll in one of our eLearning modules to learn more about the University's commitment to psychological health and safety or to learn strategies in supporting mental health in the workplace.
Each module ranges from 30-45 minutes.
Wellness Advocate Program
The goal of the Wellness Advocate Program is to contribute to a supportive workplace environment and encourage positive health behaviors. The Wellness Advocate Program is composed of two groups: wellness committees and wellness advocates.
Mindfulness
Mindfulness, the cultivation of focused awareness, changes the structure and function of the brain throughout the life span. A regular mindfulness practice can open new doors to healing, growth, creativity, and happiness at the individual, family, workplace, and community level.
WellBeing and WorkLife
Building Personal Resilience
This workshop examines emotional and physical wellness to help you learn strategies to increase your personal resilience so you are more prepared to navigate everyday activities and to deal with challenges, setbacks, and change in your work and personal life.
Building Resilience Through Connection
This workshop is designed to help staff and faculty to identify healthy coping strategies in response to common stressors. It highlights the importance of social supports, caring communities and the resources available to employees at the University of Calgary.
The Working Mind
Geared towards a general workplace audience - aims to increase mental health awareness, reduce the stigma of mental illness, and offer resources to maintain positive mental health and increase resiliency. This workshop is a full-day manager session, or a half-day employee session.

Mindfulness and Mitigating the Stress Response to COVID-19

Resilience
This course features video segments of a psychology expert and four people learning to become more resilient. The course features before-and-after testimonials, interviews with a psychologist, and step-by-step exercises.
Responsible Optimism
This course provides users with tools required to change their thinking. Optimistic thinking is a key to avoiding feelings of depression, persisting longer at challenging tasks, and facing each day with hope.
Taking Control of Stress
This course provides users with tools to identify stress and key stress management skills, including: managing thinking and feelings, time management, increasing positive experiences, getting active, and relaxation.
Taking Control of Your Mood
Sad feelings are normal but can require help. This course offers self-care strategies for eating/sleeping well, managing thinking/feelings, increasing positive experiences, getting active, and reducing tension.
Training and Development
Training and Development offers programs, workshops, e-learning, guidebooks, articles, and more aimed at developing you for your current role as well as for future opportunities and career growth.
Respect in the Workplace Program
The university and all of its employees have a responsibility to create and maintain a respectful workplace, which includes:
- fostering respectful behavior towards others
- avoiding placing one's self or others at risk
- respecting the value of diversity in the workplace
- challenging disrespectful or inappropriate behavior when it occurs
- reporting incidents of disrespectful behavior
- utilizing the Employee and Family Assistance Program if necessary
Health and Wellness Fundamentals
This workshop provides the basics to support the health and wellbeing of your employees. This is a 2.5 hour workshop for managers. Participants will learn:
- the services available through WellBeing and WorkLife
- about the services available through Staff Wellness
- how to support the health of your employees
- what resources Homewood Health offers for employees and their families
- what to do in the event of crisis, accommodation, or if an employee is away from work
Personal Resiliency
Resilience is the ability to remain productive during times of change. This course explains why change can be challenging and will help you explore your resilience. This course can be booked through Enterprise Learning (ELM) in PeopleSoft.

SU Wellness Centre
Employees have access to a variety of training and workshops through the SU Wellness Centre.
Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training
A two day intensive, interactive, and practice-dominated course designed to help caregivers recognize and review risk and intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide.
Community Helpers Training
Learn to identify and support existing “natural” helpers for youth in the community. The program aims to build a bridge between formal and informal support for youth in the community.
